KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): Former Felda chairperson Mohd Isa Abdul Samad was at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya today, most likely to give a statement on the purchase of hotels by Felda Investment Corp (FIC), Bernama reported today.

He arrived with two lawyers at the compound of the MACC’s HQ at 2.40 pm but only Mohd Isa was seen entering the office, Bernama reported.

Last week, the anti-graft body’s deputy chief commissioner (Operations), Datuk Mohd Azam Baki said that they will be calling in a key person to help in the probes in connection with the purchases of hotels in London and Kuching, Sarawak by FIC.

Azam also added that nine individuals had been detained and more than 30 witnesses have so far been summoned in connection with the purchase of the two hotels.

MACC has also visited the office of FIC a few times as part of its probe of the hotel deals, most probably to take possession of relevant documents.

FIC is alleged to have bought the hotels in London and Kuching at inflated prices above their real market values, causing the Felda subsidiary to suffer millions of ringgit in losses.
