KUALA LIPIS (Aug 17): Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd is confident of securing projects under Malaysia's light rail transit line 3 (LRT3) after the company submitted competitive bids for five contracts.

Fajarbaru executive director Eric Kuan Khian Leng said the company was bidding for LRT3 projects, which included depot, station and wire duct contracts in the Klang Valley.

"We believe we still have a good chance because we have put in much effort into positioning ourselves as a full-fledged rail infrastructure company.

"We know that our bids are very competitive," Kuan said. He was speaking to reporters here today after the handover ceremony of trackwork machinery by Jiangsu KTK Locomotive & Rolling Stocks Co Ltd and Gemac Engineering Machinery Co Ltd to Fajarbaru.

According to LRT3's website, the project aims to link Bandar Utama and Klang by 2020. Prasarana Malaysia Bhd is the project owner while MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd is the project delivery partner.

The website indicated that the 37km LRT3 would have 26 stations upon completion. — theedgemarkets.com
