MRT 2 tunnelling works to start in 1Q18

GUANGZHOU (Aug 30): Tunnelling works for the Mass Rail Transit Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line’s second phase (MRT 2) are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2018 (1Q18) for completion by mid-2019, according to Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp).

MRT Corp strategic communications and stakeholder relations director Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah told reporters here yesterday that 12.05% of the SSP line had been completed.

Hence, it is on track for the targeted launch of the line’s first phase in July 2021, and its full launch in the following year, according to Najmuddin. He was speaking to reporters during a visit to the Guangzhou Herrenknecht Tunnelling Machinery Co Ltd factory here.
