KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 13): IJM Corp Bhd has won a RM378 million design-and-build contract for a corporate office tower in Damansara Uptown.

IJM Corp said its wholly-owned unit, IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, was awarded the contract by property developer See Hoy Chan Sdn Bhd Group's subsidiary Damansara Uptown Retail Centre Sdn Bhd.

The Uptown 8 corporate office tower will feature 31 storeys with a net floor area of about 480,000 sq ft, IJM Corp said in a statement.

The building will also have two levels of commercial space and 1,387 parking bays, besides landscaped open space and walkways.

IJM Corp said work for the project will commence this month and it is slated for completion in 39 months.

"Uptown 8 is another great addition to IJM Construction's portfolio of mixed-development projects," said IJM Corp chief executive officer-cum-managing director Datuk Soam Heng Choon.

"The Starling Mall and Somerset Damansara Uptown serviced residence which IJM successfully completed, and now the Uptown 8 office tower, will have a significant impact in the new 'golden square' of Petaling Jaya," added Soam.

At 4.36pm, IJM Corp's share price was down eight sen or 2.61% at RM2.99, with some 7.07 million shares done, giving it a market capitalisation of RM10.85 billion. — theedgemarkets.com
