KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 20): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is at the final stage of its investigation into Felda Investment Corp’s (FIC) purchase of a Kuching hotel, says the organisation’s chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, The New Straits Times (NST) reported on Saturday.
“It (case) is in the final stage now and (hopefully) will be completed soon,” NST reported him as saying.
Dzulkifli did not provide details on the specific timeframe for the completion of the probe.
In July, the MACC said the four-star hotel located in Kuching is believed to have been bought at a price significantly higher than its actual market price.
It was alleged that FIC paid between RM40 million and RM50 million more than the market value of the hotel.
The probe into the Sarawak hotel's purchase began as the anti-graft body was investigating FIC's purchase of a four-star hotel in Kensington, London, between 2013 and 2015.
Last week, The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) announced it will initiate legal action against those responsible for recent irregularities or investment scandals.
"Felda is in the process of filing civil summonses against the relevant parties,” said deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.
Razali did not elaborate on the action to file the civil suits.
