Lim Lip Eng

PETALING JAYA (Dec 12): The mayor of Kuala Lumpur has confirmed that Putrajaya’s development curbs on new condominiums or office properties with units priced over RM1 million will not apply to the city, said Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng.

“I asked mayor (Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz) whether this will apply in DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) because we know it's all infeasible.

“Mayor basically said no, it's not possible especially in Golden Triangle area. So they will discuss, they will come up with their suggestion and make a suggestion to Finance Ministry,” he said in a report by the Malay Mail Online.

He noted that nonetheless, the proposed development freeze could be limited to selected parts of Kuala Lumpur.

According to Lim, the mayor said DBKL will be making suggestions to the Ministry of Finance and discuss the matter; however, the mayor did not elaborate on what its suggestions were.

According to The Malaysian Insight, Kuala Lumpur’s master plan is under the Official Secrets Act and thus is exempted from the freeze — which affects malls, offices, serviced apartments and condominiums priced above RM1 million — which came into effect on Nov 1.
