Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA

SEPANG (Feb 8): The Mitsui Outlet Park (MOP) KLIA in Sepang is expected to garner sales revenue of 17 billion yen (RM610 million) when the premium outlet mall is completely developed by 2021, MFMA Development Sdn Bhd Director Tatsuro Irino told Bernama today.

Irino also said that the MOP is expected to host eight million visitors in 2025.

MFMA Development is a joint venture between Mitsui Fudosan and Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd, and developer and manager of the MOP.

Since the launch of the first phase of MOP more than two years ago, the mall has seen four million visitors.

Of that number, about 80% were locals, with rest being tourists from overseas, he told the media after the launch of MOP Phase 2 here today by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Bernama reported.

Phase 2 will have 70 stores and an addition 420 car parking bays.

Irino added that work on phase 3 of MOP KLIA would start in 2020, and with completion targeted in one year.

The total investment for all three phases of MOP was 10 billion yen.
