Felda urges patience in land transfer fraud probe

PETALING JAYA (Feb 20): The Federal Land Authority (Felda) has called for patience as an investigation into the dubious land transfer of its Jalan Semarak land is underway, with the documents to retrieve the 16 parcels to be submitted soon.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad said it had prepared important documents — such as Form 14A for the transfer ownership — and will submit them to the Kuala Lumpur land office, although he declined to say when, reported The Malaysian Insight.

“All the documents have been signed and we are in the midst of submitting them. Just be patient, everything will be completed and (the land) will come back to Felda,” he said.

According to him, Felda is in possession of the land grant and letter to transfer ownership, and is waiting to register the latter.

“Some people don’t believe this. But it is simple. We are the government, we can do it. We are not just a private citizen. The power of the government is with us," he said.

Towards the end of last year, Felda had revealed that ownership its prime parcels of land in Kuala Lumpur worth some RM270 million had been suspiciously transferred to developer Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB), which was tasked with developing the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City high-rise development.

Shahrir had lodged a police report which stated that the transfer of ownership contained “elements of fraud”.

However, in early January, the developer had agreed to give Felda documents that would enable the government agency to reclaim ownership of the land.

SPSB would still be allowed to undertake the project, albeit on terms that will be reviewed, said Shahrir.
