KUALA TERENGGANU (Feb 20):  The Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government has approved the allocation of RM11 million for the upgrading of 17 medium-low and low cost flats in Terengganu since 2014 until last year.

This effort has been carried out via the 1Malaysia Maintenance Fund (TP1M), Bernama reported today.

"The allocation is given to uplift the quality of life of the people and to give more comfort to residents of the flat housing.

“Flat housing management that have yet to submit their application can do so through the joint management body of their respective flats to the mayor or the local council president,” deputy minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Datuk Halimah Mohd Sadique told the media after handing over the Seri Kolam Flat to the flat management here last night, Bernama reported.

The Seri Kolam Flat received RM1.8 million for repair and upgrading.

Halimah explained that the allocation given to the housing projects that had been built more than 10 years ago involved the repair of perimeter fencing and roof, painting of buildings, upgrading or replacement of damaged lifts and wiring.

She also told the residents to take good care of the facilities provided at the flat, Bernama reported.
