DBKL: MACC took documents related to sale of 64 parcels of land

KUALA LUMPUR (June 7): Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) executive director (planning) Datuk Mohd Najib Mohd (pictured) confirmed yesterday that documents seized by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Tuesday were related to the investigation on the sale of 64 parcels of land by the council.

“The investigation is ongoing and MACC has visited us repeatedly.

“We are transparent about it,” Najib told the media yesterday after a visit to Taman Metropolitan Park with Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng to address community issues, The Star’s Metro News.

He said the documents were taken from the Economic Planning and Development Department (JPEP).

The department is responsible for land privatisation projects.

Najib also explained that the MACC action was not considered a raid as the graft busters had only taken documents for investigations

“There was a report lodged on the land deals, and the MACC is taking necessary actions.

“DBKL officers were also questioned over the land deals,” he said.

He also said the land deals followed procedures

“We sell the land; we surely know about it. The process was in accordance with the procedures we had in place while putting up land for sale."

At the same event yesterday, Lim revealed that Aset Kayamas Group of Companies is one of the biggest beneficiaries to the 64 suspicious land deals involving DBKL.

“This could be a huge scam of DBKL selling 64 pieces of land to make money. One developer even got 16 of the 64 pieces of land,” Lim said.
