KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): The Sessions Court charged a real estate agent today for alleged rape of his 30-year-old colleague five months ago.

Lee Chee Thian, 40, was accused of the assault that took place at Marc Service Residence at No. 3, Jalan Pinang here at 2.50am on Jan 25, reported The Star.

Under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, he may face up to a maximum of 20 years' jail and whipping, if convicted.

After the charge was read out to him before judge Noradura Hamzah, Lee claimed trial. Lee's counsel Loke Kok Mun requested for bail, citing his client is a father to a two-year-old and earns irregular wages.

The bail was set at RM12,000 in one surety pending mention on July 3. Loke said the bail would be paid by Lee’s elder brother.

In addition, Judge Noradura instructed the accused to surrender his passport, report at the Gombak police headquarters fortnightly, and to stay away from the victim.
