PETALING JAYA (June 26): The federal government should set up an investigation committee at the state and federal levels over sketchy land deals linked to suspected abuse of power, said the Johor Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia.

All approvals on land by the previous regime should be suspended until the investigation is completed, said its president Datuk Dr Syed Ali Al-Attas in a report by The Star.

He added that investigations should also be carried out on land belonging to agencies, government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies.

The investigations would prevent the awarding of land either at below market price or at a premium, and the unauthorised awarding of ownership to others, he said.
