PUTRAJAYA (July 11): The National Community Policy (Dasar Komuniti Negara), which will be presented by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) to Cabinet for approval in August, is currently at the planning stage.

KPKT Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said the planning stage entails conducting research and compiling information and data.

“We just came back from Singapore and one of our officers is still there attending the World Summit Smart City Conference. There are some inputs we need [to compile], as part of the policy-making process,” she told the reporters after KPKT Raya celebration event today.

The National Community Policy, which was initiated by Zuraida, aims to achieve community empowerment, improve the overall living environment of the B40 group, and educate the local community for future policy enforcement.

Potential measures under this policy including building bigger homes for the B40 group as well as adding more facilities in affordable housing developments.

Meanwhile, Zuraida said the KPKT will also present a working paper to cabinet this month to request for special allowances for fire fighters in the country.

If approved, all fire fighters will receive a monthly critical allowance of RM200.
