KPKT to introduce developer data input system to help streamline Napic data

PETALING JAYA (July 25): The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) is working with the National Property Information Centre (Napic) to streamline their housing data by introducing a data input system for developers at the beginning of next year, said its national housing department director-general Jayaselan Navaratnam

“[The progress of streamlining the data] is still in the initial stage because we have come to an agreement first. The starting point that the two parties collect data is different – KPKT collects the data from the day that developers apply for [building] license while Napic collects the data from the moment of planning approval and building plan is issued.

“Both parties agreed that we need the same information but the starting point is different. So we are now adjusting the starting point and data definitions,” he said.

The ministry is hoping to complete the streamlining process by the end of this year to introduce a new system for developers in January next year.

“A system needs to be developed and we need to manage and modify the system. When the system is ready, it will be rolled out for developers to key in their data, so that we can see how effective is the system. We want to roll it out in Jan 2019 for test run and see how developers reacts,” he said.
