PETALING JAYA (July 27): The federal government proposes to hold local government elections in three years, and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) is ready, said MPSJ president Noraini Roslan.

Speaking to reporters after the new MPSJ councillors were sworn in, she added that they would prepare themselves, starting now, and would hold the elections if the federal government decided so, reported Bernama.

Previously on May 26, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said there were reports and issues that had to be studied, in order to find the best mechanism to ensure the elections could take place.

Twenty-four MPSJ councillors had just been appointed, 10 new faces, for the term ending Dec 31, 2020.
