KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): The body of climber Siti Nur Ismawida Ismail, 30, who was killed in the recent earthquake on the Indonesian island of Lombok, will be repatriated home tomorrow, reported news portal Astro Awani.

On the portal’s website, it was reported that her father Ismail Abd Raffar said that the flight carrying Ismawida’s remains is expected to arrive in the afternoon or the evening.

Siti Nurhanez Ismail, her sister, said Ismawida’s remains were delayed to tomorrow due to paperwork.

“My husband and my brother-in-law are in Lombok handling the necessary documentation.

“Tomorrow, at 9am, she might be taken to Jakarta, and be returned to Malaysia from there,” she told Astro Awani.

Ismawida died when the earthquake caused the collapse of her lodgings at Lombok.

Just the day before, she had climbed the peak of Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s second highest volcano.

The earthquake which registered 6.4 on the Richter scale, resulted in 14 deaths and injuries to 162 people, including six Malaysians. Thousands of homes faced destruction on the island neighbouring Bali.

At Senggigi, in north Lombok, a group of Malaysians were stranded in the aftermath of the earthquake.
