PETALING JAYA (Aug 7): A Kota Kinabalu International Airport executive has been remanded for four days for allegedly receiving bribes worth RM36,500 in relation to the approval of airport rental space, reported The Star.

The 56-year-old man had purportedly accepted bribes of between RM500 to RM4,500 each time on several occasions between 2006 and 2014.

The Commercial Unit staff was held at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Kota Kinabalu office at 2.45pm on Sunday (Aug 5).

He was produced before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus who issued a remand order for four days starting today to enable the commission to probe further into the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

Those found guilty are liable for imprisonment of up to 20 years and a maximum fine of a sum five times the amount of bribes or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
