Guan Eng files motion to reopen 1MDB probe, make it public

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng today filed a motion for the Auditor General (AG) and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to reopen a detailed investigation on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal in Dewan Rakyat.

"(The MoF asks) that Dewan Rakyat resolves that the AG and PAC conduct again a detailed investigation on the embezzlement of monies and the scandal with regards to 1MDB and its related companies in order to restore the dignity of the Dewan Rakyat; and that all related information should be made public," read the Orders Paper.

Based on the Order Paper, the motion is fifth after the resumption of consideration on the Supply (Reallocation of Appropriated Expenditure) Bill 2018 and the Supplementary Development Expenditure (Reallocation of Appropriated Expenditure) 2018, the second reading of the Anti-Fake News (Repeal) Bill as well as the Land Public Transport Bill.
