PETALING JAYA (Sept 10): Parking and traffic woes, potholes, stacks of garbage and pests are just some of the problems that are ticking off residents of Taman Lembah Maju 600 Apartment in Kuala Lumpur, reported The Star.

These problems have stemmed from poor property management with the now-defunct joint management body (JMB) mishandling funds collected for property management, they said.

The apartments comprise 622 units of homes and shoplots across six blocks in Pandan Indah.

They allege that outsiders are taking up parking spaces that is allotted to the residents, thanks to guards who are not stopping non-residents from entering the apartment area.

This has caused parking spaces to run out by 10pm and the area to experience traffic congestion, said 37-year-old flat dweller Wan Chong Keong.

The residents also claim that heavy trucks have been allowed to come into the area, causing potholes to form.

Meanwhile, the lifts, post boxes and staircases were also been poorly maintained.

They are also unhappy that the shoplots there have been turned into store rooms, saying that should not have been allowed to happen.

Moreover, the rubbish pile has swelled with garbage bags and broken furniture, drawing pests such as pythons – 54-year-old Ann Peong who lives in one of the flats said residents have caught five of the animals since 1999, and is concerned that more pests will come if the garbage is not cleared.

Teratai assemblyman Bryan Lai has helped the residents to apply for funds from Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) to repair the collapsed walls of the drains around the apartment and has advised them to set up a JMB to improve maintenance.

MPAJ has appointed Anzal Properties Management to manage the apartment in the absence of the JMB.

The firm said it is aware of the problems in the area and has applied for funds from the Housing and Local Government Ministry to fix the potholes.

Meannwhile, it will install a new barricade next month and clear the rubbish next week.
