No more plastic straws in KL, Labuan, Putrajaya from 2019

PETALING JAYA (Sept 21): The Federal Territories Ministry will ban plastic straws in its jurisdiction from Jan 1, 2019, reported The Star.

Food and beverage outlets that flout the new ruling face having their licenses revoked, their trading items confiscated, their deposits forfeited, fines or even jail time, said ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Mohd Ikhsan.

The anti-plastic straw measure follows the ministry's clampdown on plastic bags and polystyrene food packaging starting in September 2017.
