PETALING JAYA (September 21): A mobile office launched by Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah will enable Petaling Jaya residents to lodge complaints and provide suggestions at nearby public spaces.

The Star reports that Maria will set up the volunteer-managed mobile office, beginning next month, through the three state constituencies under her — Seri Setia, Bukit Gasing and Taman Medan.

“It will be held twice a month at a particular constituency before making its way to another. We will begin with Taman Medan,” she said.

Maria said Petaling Jaya was a large area with over 300,000 residents in all three constituencies. A planned link with government agencies will also provide added services, based on the needs of the community.

“We will work together with the assemblymen to set up a schedule that will be posted on our social media pages.

“We also plan to be there at the counters once in a while.”

The daily quotes Maria who spoke at a press conference for the launch. She said the aim, other than to receive feedback from residents, was to provide information to the public on the services available as well as raise awareness of issues such as dengue and drug abuse.

Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said: “There have been a lot of problems involving the federal government in the past. But now we need to find solutions so that we can better people’s lives,” he added.

He hopes to resolve issues such as congestion, upgrading of schools as well as public transportation in Petaling Jaya.

“I am happy that our teams can work together to find a solution for the betterment of PJ, and I want to call on residents to work with us as well."
