REMBAU (Dec 5): A teenager was electrocuted while charging his mobile device at his home in Kampung Gaing Baru Pedas, here, two days ago.

According to a report by the New Straits Times (NST), district police chief Deputy Superintendent Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said the 16-year-old boy was found dead at 12.45pm by his mother.

The report said his mother saw his son lying on the floor at 7.45am just before going to work and assumed he was just sleeping.

"While at work, she felt uneasy and decided to return home to check on her son.

"At home, she found him in the same position. She then tried to wake him up and as she touched him, the boy's body felt cold," Anuar Bakri told the English daily.

The woman then contacted a clinic in the vicinity and a medical officer was rushed to the house.

"The medical officer later confirmed that the boy had died hours earlier," he said.

He said the teenager was believed to be wearing headphones connected to the mobile phone while it was being charged.
