
KUCHING (Dec 11): It’s business as usual at Cityone Megamall here, less than a week after a gas explosion rocked the shopping centre.
Blocks C and D which house Mall and Mall 2 were reopened after the structural engineers confirmed that the blast did not affect the structure of the building.
However, a check by Bernama found that repair works were still ongoing at the premises, and affected spaces are expected to be re-opened latest, Wednesday.
Oliver Ling, 61, who runs an eyewear shop at the mall said he felt relieved after the management informed that traders in Block C and D could start their businesses as usual from today.
"An incident like this has definitely troubled all the traders here, nevertheless it is an incident that nobody would want to go through," he said when met by Bernama here today.
The mall’s management had issued an indefinite notice to close the shopping centre after the explosion at the NeNe Chicken outlet on Dec 4 believed to be due to a gas leak claimed three lives, and left 41 others injured.
