PETALING JAYA (Dec 15): Lumahgo Sdn Bhd will open a store endorsed by Tmall, a unit of the Alibaba Group, at Viva Home Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur, reported The Star.

The Lumahgo X Taobao Selection store will occupy 500 sq ft of space and offer retailers a new retail technology experience.

The shop is a collaboration between Lumahgo Sdn Bhd, Alibaba’s Tmall and lifestyle furniture retailer Lorenzo.

Under this collaboration, Alibaba Group will provide Lumahgo with technology such as big data to target Malaysian consumers and a platform for local furniture retailers to sell their products, said Lumahgo CEO Fabian Kong.

He also pointed out that 98% of furniture sales are currently offline, so the store is helping Tmall World to sell chosen products here to customers who are not familiar with online shopping.

Using new technology, customers will be able to visualise and purchase furniture online, he explained.

Another Taobao Selection store is scheduled to open in January in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
