PENAMPANG (Jan 21): The Energy, Science, Environment and Climate Change Ministry will be implementing the installation of electricity supply system based on the community to ensure villages in the interior enjoy the facility continuously.

Its Minister, Yeo Bee Yin said the concept was seen as effective as the system could be maintained by villagers for a long time and the residents would enjoy continuous electricity supply.

She said the measure was taken as the solar-based power system in the interior did not last very long due to poor continuous maintenance.

Therefore, she said her ministry was identifying the suitable electricity system using renewable energy using battery, hybrid hydro as well as solar and micro hydro.

“It would be implemented with the Rural and Regional Development Ministry to identify the remote villages while we provide the technology,” she told reporters after visiting the Micro Hydro Electricity Supply System in Kampung Terian near here yesterday.

Also present was Moyog assemblyman who is also State Education and Innovation Assistant Minister, Jennifer Lasimbang and Senator Adrian Lasimbang.

Yeo said when the electricity supply generation system had been identified, a pioneer project involving five interior villages would be implemented before it was launched on a large scale.
