KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): In light of the “not being on the same wavelength” saga between Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng over the status of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), former big wigs in the government are taking the opportunity to make some jokes at the expense of the two.

The Star reported former PM Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak writing in his Facebook that both Azmin and Lim do not have a dedicated WhatsApp group.

"However, the telephone has been around since 1876. Guang Eng, here is Azmin's office number – 03-88727170. Azmin, here is Guan Eng's office number – 03-88823007. At least call once in a while," wrote Najib.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong posted on Facebook that Malaysia's "Day of Shocks" would “no longer be celebrated on Sept 3 like last year – instead it falls on Jan 26”.

The former minister in the Prime Minister's Department was referring to the day when the Penang High Court in Sept 3 last year acquitted Lim of all his corruption charges – aka "Day of Shocks".

"[Lim] Guan Eng is shocked by Azmin's announcement – well, I am shocked that senior ministers are having a war of words in the media.

"According to [Lim], Azmin did not attend the Cabinet meeting on Thursday. Such meetings are usually held on Wednesdays, but how come it is now on Thursdays," wrote Dr Wee.

It was reported that Lim was shocked by Azmin’s announcement about the scrapping of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project earlier today.
