Patriot urges police, MACC to immediately probe Defence Ministry land swap deal

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (National Patriot Association), which comprises Malaysian military and police veterans, had today urged the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to immediately probe the alleged leakage of government funds believed to be in excess of RM500 million under the Defence Ministry’s land swap deal involving development projects.

Patriot said in a statement today if top brass in the military was involved, action should be taken against them even if they have retired.

"Patriot urges the police and MACC to immediately swing into action. Bank accounts of suspected persons should be frozen and they should be barred from leaving the country.

"Patriot would like to see a strong message is sent to our current serving personnel and our youths that enough is enough of all the nonsense of corruption. We will have zero tolerance to corruption, especially those that happen in high office. No corruption case must be allowed to taint the honourable service of those men and women in uniform, military and police, who have sacrificed and served the King and country with pride and honour," Patriot said.

Patriot's statement today is in response to news reports yesterday that the Defence Ministry plans to file reports with the police and MACC over alleged leakage of government funds believed to be in excess of RM500 million under the ministry’s land swap deal involving development projects.

Bernama quoted Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu as saying in a statement that he had received a final report on the matter from the special committee to investigate procurement and governance and finance chaired by Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.
