DBKL wants dirty tenant to clean up… or else

KUALA LUMPUR (March 9): The tenant of a house along Jalan Wan Empok, Bandar Baru Seri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur has been issued a notice over the “deplorable state” of the property.

The Star reported that “the notice under Section 22 of the Local Government Act 1976 ordered the tenant to clear out rubbish and tidy the compound”.

The mainly senior citizens living in the area have complained that the double-storey link house “was a potential breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests”.

DBKL Corporate Planning Department director Norhaslinda Nordin told the daily that the tenant was “also told to cut the overgrown grass and shrubs and destroy all items that could encourage mosquito breeding and other pests”.

Norhaslinda revealed the city authorities have already visited the house on Feb 28.

“Our health officers met the owner during their second visit and advised him to clean the area and remove all items that could become potential breeding sites for Aedes mosquitoes.

“DBKL officers will make another visit to monitor the situation once the notice expires,’’ she said.
