KUALA LUMPUR (March 10): City Hall (DBKL) has made an extra RM205 million after re-evaluating 23 undervalued land deals that were inked under the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration, reported Berita Harian today.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad (pictured) said DBKL made RM149 million in cash, RM50 million for building infrastructure for DBKL and RM6 million via corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
“The RM50 million will be partially used to build a car workshop for DBKL. The developers were all willing to talk and one even offered RM60 million more.
“They know they were not supposed to purchase the land at that price it costs a lot more. If Pakatan Harapan did not win in the GE14, I wonder what would’ve happened to this RM60 million if there was a similar situation. The money could’ve been given to someone and we wouldn’t even know about it,” Khalid told the Malay daily.
There is, however, still a case that is being fought out in court.
Khalid told Berita Harian that the developer doesn’t want to renegotiate and "is looking for a way out".
“I will not let them go until getting them to sit down and discuss the matter with us. Our ministry’s stand is if others are willing to negotiate, why aren’t you?” he told the daily.
