
KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) and Mass Rail Transit (MRT) 2 projects will proceed with a cost reduction of RM23.84 billion, Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng, said the LRT3 project will plough ahead at a cost of RM16.63 billion compared to the original RM31.65 billion agreed on as a result of discussions, negotiations and rationalisation.
Meanwhile, MRT2, through a structuring of the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya project, as well as a rationalisation exercise, has succeeded in reducing the cost by RM8.82 billion.
