KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): Up to 10.7 million – that is the amount assessment tax defaulters have clocked up in Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).
And the council now wants to collect at all, reported The Star.
“Most of the defaulters are landowners who have not developed their land so they don’t bother to pay the assessment. But the council relies on the revenue to carry out maintenance and upgrading work,” told daily.
MPAJ’s effort to collect the arrear is dubbed Operasi Sita.
Abdul Hamid said the council is endeavouring “to collect 70% of the current assessment tax of RM90.8 million.
“For the first term, we have already collected RM32.8mi, so we urge property owners to pay the tax,” he said.
