PETALING JAYA (April 1): Subang Bestari residents are unhappy about another Rumah Selangorku project that is being built a bit too close to a school.

According to a report by The Star, it will be the second project in the area to be “located less than 30m away from a primary school on a 0.8ha land that shares the same two-lane road as SK Subang Bestari along Jalan Nova U5/81”.

Subang Bestari Preservation Action Committee chairman Abdul Razak Mohammad told the daily that residents are concerned about the safety of the pupils when construction of the projects start.

“The entire road is often congested with school vans transporting schoolchildren and pedestrians,” he said.

It has been reported that the other project is a Rumah Selangorku project “comprising a 16-storey apartment block next to the Subang Bestari neighbourhood along Jalan Nova U5/86A”.

Committee secretary-general Amiruddin M Dunia told The Star that the residents were not consulted about the Rumah Selangorku projects.

“They are trying to push the project through because it is part of a 25-year-old master plan.

“Even the Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) is no longer valid as it was done 16 years ago,” added Amiruddin.

The residents have also asked the developers to look at alternative locations a “few kilometres away as it was more feasible to build homes there”.

They also said that “existing roads, including Persiaran Cakerawala” cannot accommodate the increasing traffic.

The committee has “voiced their concerns to MBSA, Kota Damansara assemblyman Shatiri Mansor and the Housing and Local Government Ministry”, the daily reported.
