Waterspout in Penang whips up big wave

GEORGE TOWN (April 1): Is it Godzilla invading Penang????!!!.

Nope, a waterspout was seen near near Tanjung Tokong in Penang today, reported The Star today.

Photos and videos of the spout forming out of dark storm clouds are reported to be going viral on WhatsApp and Facebook.

One of the videos shows the waterspout churning up huge waves heading towards land.

The daily also reported that “unlike in areas where vast plains meet the sea and waterspouts can reach tornado speeds, those in Penang are weak and dissipate in less than 30 minutes”.

So, no worries there, Penang folk.
