PUTRAJAYA (April 24): Transport Minister Anthony Loke (pictured) today explained that his proposal for a East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) station in Nilai “was just a suggestion”, reported The Malay Mail today.

“As is said, when the new alignment was proposed to the government, I did not interfere in the alignment or where the stations should be.

“So yesterday when I was speaking in the state assembly, I was speaking as my capacity as the ADUN, not as the transport minister,” Loke was reported saying by the news portal during a media conference at the Ministry of Transport here today.

“It is just a proposal. As I’ve said, I do not influence the negotiations with China. I stay away, I stay out,’’ he added.

Loke yesterday said he will strive to have a station of the ECRL in Nilai.

“The ECRL is a massive project and must be given attention. Its benefits are not only for the east coast states but also for Negeri Sembilan,” he said during the debate on the motion of thanks on the royal address by the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, when opening the first meeting of the second session of the 14th State Legislative Assembly yesterday.

Loke is also the Chennah state assemblyman.
