PETALING JAYA (May 3): When Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud (pictured) learned an ustaz has reportedly said that women who "tak tutup aurat (do not cover up)" deserve to be sexually violated, she could not take it sitting down.

The Star reported today the DAP Socialist Youth committee member slammed him on her social media account, saying, "Dear ustaz, the one that is dead wrong with our society is not what ppl wear but your lack of respect for consent, your abusive mentality against women, (and) you think you are right and holy to teach people."

She stated “no one deserved to be sexually violated even if they were walking around naked in public in broad daylight”.

"Clothes are not indication of sexual consent," she tweeted.

Her lashing was in response to a one-minute video showing the ustaz speaking to a group of people, which was reportedly part of a marriage course conducted by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) last weekend (April 27-28).

The thread dated April 29 on Dyana Sofya's Twitter account was retweeted over 1,400 times and liked over 800 times, with many voicing similar criticisms.

Among them was Ketari assemblywoman Young Syefura Othman, who expressed disgust over the religious teacher’s alleged remark.
