KUALA LUMPUR (June 7): Gerakan president Dominic Lau has called on newly appointed MACC chief Latheefa Koya to probe Lim Guan Eng.

Lau said in a statement yesterday that Latheefa must prove herself by meeting three key performance indicators within her first 100 days in office.

One of these include investigating Lim’s bungalow purchase case during his time as chief minister of Penang.

“I congratulate Latheefa as the first female chief commissioner since its establishment 52 years ago.

“Although this appointment has clearly violated the Pakatan Harapan manifesto, but since the appointment has become a reality, we hope that Latheefa can complete the KPIs set by the Gerakan to prove that she is brave and not speak empty words in helping Malaysia against corruption,” Lau said.

The other two KPIs stated by Lau were the Teoh Beng Hock case and allegations about two Johor state executive councillors from PKR owning a luxury apartment.

Lau said Johor Gerakan has reported the apartment issue to the Johor MACC but but the latter apparently refused to accept the report.

“Latheefa must immediately instruct the MACC to accept any report from the public,” he said.

Lau also wanted Latheefa to reopen the probe into the death of the Teoh.

He called on Latheefa to suspend officers implicated in Teoh’s death and allow the political aide’s family to know the cause of his death.

Latheefa was previously PKR’s legal bureau chief and central committee member.

She has stated that she resigned as PKR member a day before she was appointed as MACC chief commissioner on Tuesday.
