BEIJING (SEPT 25): Vanke Holdings (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is committed to working with the Malaysian government to preserve the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve by providing resources including the relevant technology and technical help.

The company, a subsidiary of Vanke Co. Ltd, is the only private developer in China with its own building materials research and development centre, as well as a tropical forest research centre and greenhouse.

It is the land owner of a 7-acre plot located next to the Bukit Nanas green lung and KL Tower. The company bought the land from Malola Garden City at RM500 million or around RM1,600 psf back in 2016, according to previous news reports.

Vanke's initial proposal of a high density development on the site is still pending approval but the local authority had been reported as saying that the project may affect the forest reserve in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city.

“We will not touch the forest reserve. In fact, we want to protect it and make sure it will be preserved nicely because it is the unique selling point for our first project in Malaysia. We are at the very initial talks with the local government on how we can work together to preserve Bukit Nanas and how we can make our development an iconic one to uplift the area,” Vanke Holdings managing director Lang Cong told the press in Beijing.

“The approval for the project is beyond our control. We have followed all the government guidelines for the master plan. Of course, we hope to get the approval as soon as possible,” added Lang.
