KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 30): A rollercoaster carriage derailment at an amusement park in Mexico City has left two dead and two injured on Saturday.

According to a report by the BBC, eyewitnesses said the victims fell off the last carriage at the popular La Feria Chapultepec amusement park in the Mexican capital.

The local authorities have shuttered the park after the tragedy and will probe the derailment.

A Deutsche Welle (DW) report stated that the two dead were men, aged 18 and 21 and the seriously injured were two women.

The German broadcaster also said that the “Quimera triple-loop roller coaster ride” can hit 85kph at its fastest.

An eyewitness Rosalba Rodriguez told the media “there was nothing out of the ordinary about the ride”, which made a few loops and then she saw “the last carriage fall”.

Reports also stated that the carriage “fell some 10m to the ground”.

The fair has officially stated it "deeply regrets the terrible accident" and will investigate the accident “alongside the relevant authorities”.
