KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): Residents of four blocks of town houses in Taman Lagenda Mas, Jalan Mas 11, Cheras had to vacate their homes following a landslip incident on Oct 3.
According to a report from The Star, up to 16 units of homes were affected by the landslip.
“Although the main structure of their houses are not affected, the residents have to move out for a minimum of two months while MPKj [Kajang Municipal Council ] conducts repairs,” Balakong assemblyman Wong Siew Ki told the daily on the incident.
It was also reported that monetary aid has been provided by Wong and Bangi MP Dr Ong Kian Ming to the residents, with “each household given RM2,000 to tide them over while repair works are carried out”.
MPKj public relations officer Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman revealed that the mandatory evacuation notice was issued as the properties had been declared unsafe.
“I believe the heavy rain caused the slope to give way,” Wong added.
“We will do a full inspection in the area to make sure other residents are safe,” she said.
