PETALING JAYA (Dec 2): Pangsapuri Intan residents in Taman Bukit Permai, Ampang, will soon have pothole-free roads leading up to their flats after the road was neglected for 20 years.

The Star reports that Teratai assemblyman Bryan Lai said Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and residents assumed the roads leading up to and surrounding the five blocks of flats were the responsibility of the joint management body.

“Because of how the planning permissions were issued, the developer did not own the access roads and they were still under the local authority.

“Due to management issues within the low-cost flats, there had been no maintenance of these roads.

“Now that this has been cleared up, MPAJ will be resurfacing the roads early next year,” he said

Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) said that an RM300,000 allocation from Federal Government’s Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) fund will be used to resurface the roads next year.

Temporary resurfacing was done in October as the road conditions were extremely poor.

A resident in the area for 20 years said this is the first time the local authority had stepped in.

“Normally they only come and discuss but nothing would be done. I hope this time the authorities would fulfil the promises they made.

“It would also be wonderful if the exterior of the flats could be repainted as well,” he was quoted as saying.

The low-cost 600 units of flats have also been having issues with parking spaces.

MPAJ councillor R. Moganraj said that there will be a plan to address the shortage of parking bays, and that there were plans for a mini library and multi-purpose space in the area of the flats.
