KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (pictured) said a new government has to be formed quickly to help fix the economy of the country.

“No one is in the office anymore and all the ministers in the government have fallen.

“The uncertainty also indirectly affects the current economic situation. Our stock market was hit hard when it became known that the Mahathir government had fallen,” Razaleigh was reported saying by Free Malaysia Today at the Umno HQ here.

The ex-finance minister added that “economy is not doing good right now. We need to find a solution as [the value of] our ringgit has fallen sharply”.

The Bursa Malaysia index ended today at its lowest level since 2011.

The news portal also reported that Razaleigh was asked about being listed as a candidate for the prime minister’s post, to which he replied: “Really? Thank you very much.”
