KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pictured) said he will be announcing a more comprehensive economic stimulus package this Friday (March 27), to assist Malaysians during these trying times.

He said his officers at the Ministry of Finance are currently hard at work in preparing the said stimulus package.

Regardless of occupation, the prime minister said “no one will be left behind”.

“I know that many are in need of assistance during these times. Yesterday, I had announced several initiatives to lighten the burden of the rakyat in facing this difficult situation,” he said, also pointing out the initiative announced earlier today for the deferment of payment of bank loans.

Meanwhile, he said he has ordered all ministries to carry out the necessary preparations to ensure that essential supplies are sufficient during the Movement Control Order, which has been extended to April 14.

This includes the supply of food, electricity, water, sanitation and sewerage services, communications and logistics.

He also hopes that the zakat collection centres in each state will also proactively play their part in helping the poor, especially during these trying times, and also called upon charity organisations to help those in need.

“I am aware, as prime minister, that I am totally responsible for your wellbeing. As a human, I am not perfect but I promise to do the best I can. With Allah’s permission, we will be able to overcome this big hurdle,” he said.
