KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): Worried that his tenant might suffer from a loss of income owing to the extended movement control order (MCO), a kind-hearted landlord has given his tenant free rent for a month, according to a screenshot of the conversation posted by a Malay lady named "Siti Shabariya Sahlan" (the tenant) on Facebook on Wednesday, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced yesterday that the MCO will be extended for another two weeks until April 14. Many are likely to suffer income losses as they are temporarily unable to work.

The screenshot of the conversation showed the Chinese landlord telling his tenant that there is no need to pay rent for April. “All are suffering due to the COVID-19 disease, please use the money to help your family. Send my regards to your dad,” said the landlord via WhatsApp, as seen in the screenshot.

The tenant thanked him repeatedly for this. In her Facebook post, she also stated that her monthly rent was RM600.

The post has attracted many positive responses from netizens, praising the landlord's kindness.
