KUALA LUMPUR (March 29): Country Heights Holdings Bhd founder Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew has chartered a plane to transport up to 1.5 million pieces of masks and personal protection equipment (PPE) sorely needed by frontliners yesterday.

"We have to be equipped with a mask when we travel outside after this MCO [movement control order] session.

"I would like to announce after 10 days of hard work, I have chartered a plane to fly in 1.5 million masks and PPE," Lee announced on his Facebook page.

Lee said the MCO was only a temporary solution against COVID-19 and Malaysians will still need masks to prevent the spread of the virus after the movement control.

"A mask is the best preventive measure to stop the spread of COVID-19. If it becomes a law, then maybe it is an opportunity to replace the lockdown," said Lee.

Lee explained that he has started the Bantu-bantu Malaysia initiative operating at the “re-purposed” ballroom of the Palace of the Golden Horses to act as a distribution hub, reported Malaysiakini.
