KUALA LUMPUR (March 30): CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has confirmed that one of its employees has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement today, the group said the employee is based at CIMB’s call centre in Menara Southern Bank (MSB) and is currently being treated at a government hospital.
“Contact tracing is being conducted, and all those in direct contact with the affected employee has been placed under home quarantine until given appropriate medical clearance,” said CIMB.
The call centre at MSB has been closed to undergo a thorough sanitisation and deep cleaning.
“Whilst all our other call centres are still operational, the temporary closure of MSB will impact the number of calls we are able to attend to this morning. We seek the understanding of all customers as we work hard to get the call centre up and running again.
“Our thoughts are with all our frontliners who are operating business as usual to ensure essential services for our customers continue as seamlessly as possible,” CIMB added.
CIMB requested its customers go to www.cimb.com.my/covid19support, the company's dedicated Covid-19 page with a comprehensive set of FAQs for Covid-19 financial relief packages.
CIMB said it has business continuity plans in place for both its head office and branches to ensure the continuation of essential services.
The group had earlier implemented several precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of customers and staff, which include a mandatory travel declaration policy, hygiene and social distancing measures at both head office and branches.
CIMB advises its customers to use the bank's online services and to visit a branch only if there is an absolute need.
At 11.31am, CIMB shares dipped 2.8% or 10 sen to RM3.47, valuing the group at RM34.43 billion.
