PETALING JAYA (April 7): Five-star hotels and stadiums have been added to the list of quarantine centres nationwide as the government prepares for a long battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, Free Malaysia Today reported yesterday.

The report quoting a statement from Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said the buildings will be gazetted under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act.

“In exercising the powers conferred by Section 2 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 [Act 342], the minister has declared the places specified in the Schedule as quarantine stations,” the statement said.

The government on Sunday said some 40,000 people could be placed in 551 quarantine centres nationwide.

The hotels are as follows:
