KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): There will be no excuses. Beginning today, the cops will issue compound notices of RM1,000 to Movement Control Order (MCO) violators.

Federal police Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abullah Sani said the issuing of the compund notices was in line with the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, reported the New Straits Times.

And those recalcitrant ones will have to go the balai as the compound will be issued at the police station and not at the roadblocks, Acryl Sani said.

He added that the MCO violators will be given two weeks to settle the compound and failure to do so will mean going to court.

“For those who refuse to pay upon receiving the compound, they can request for prosecution," Acryl Sani told the media at Bukit Aman today.
