KUALA LUMPUR (April 14): East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project contractor China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCC-ECRL) is donating medical supplies including more than 150,000 masks to state governments and local councils along the alignment.

In a statement today, CCC-ECRL managing director Bai Yinzhan said while the company has placed various precautionary and preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of its staff and work sites, it continues to create value and give back to society.

“We have worked with medical supply manufacturers and logistic providers to ensure the needed items are sent to Malaysia, to whom we pledge to ride through the storm together," he said.

Bai said the donation drive was in with calls from the Chinese Embassy.

“CCC-ECRL mobilised its medical supply donation drive on March 24. It has pledged to procure more supplies to meet the local needs,” he said.

Bai said CCC-ECRL’s base camps along the alignment have reached out and donated medical supplies to the federal government; the state governments of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang; hospitals; and various agencies in Pasir Puteh, Besut and Setiu.

"ECRL is one of the key economic and trade cooperation projects between China and Malaysia.

“Other than contributing to engineering excellence, CCC-ECRL has pledged to provide Malaysia the resources to fight the epidemic in preparation for an economic recovery development post-Covid-19," Bai said.
