KUALA LUMPUR (April 18): The Ministry of Health today revealed that it has detected a new cluster of Covid-19 infection among healthcare workers in Sabah.

The infections are in three hospitals in the state, namely Hospital Queen Elizabeth 2, Women's and Children Hospital in Likas and Hospital Keningau.

As of today, there have been 31 positive Covid-19 cases identified in this cluster, including two new cases reported today, according to health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

"This cluster comprises 23 health workers and eight family members and the general public," he said at the daily Covid-19 press conference.

Noor Hisham said the cluster was first detected when one staff member in Hospital Queen Elizabeth 2 was tested positive.

Following that, investigations and screenings on close contacts of the staff member were carried out, whereby some colleagues and family members have been found to have contracted the coronavirus.

"All 31 cases are still in the ward and are in stable condition. There were no cases of transmission of the infection when treating Covid-19 patients," Noor Hisham assured.
