PUTRAJAYA (April 27): The government will extend an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) on a tahfiz centre and one house at Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, Selangor for the second time, this time by a week until May 5, announced Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pictured) today.

The EMCO in the area was actually scheduled to end tomorrow but it looks like that is not the case now.

Ismail Sabri however clarified that EMCO in Kampung Datuk Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Datuk Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Kluang, in Johor, will end tomorrow.

The minister said all restrictions which had been enforced on the areas would be lifted, reported Bernama.

The two Johor areas were the first in the country to be placed under EMCO, initially from March 27 to April 9, before being extended first to April 14, and then for a second time to April 28, reported the Malay Mail.

Since March 27, Putrajaya has declared EMCOs in seven areas in Malaysia to carry out active tracing of Covid-19 cases after a spike cases were detected in those areas.
